Boundaries: The boundaries of the Ladera West Neighborhood Association shall be the area of the City of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County, State of New Mexico, bounded on the west by Unser Boulevard, on the north by the drainage row south of Georgetown Ave., on the east by Ladera Drive, and on the south by Ladera Drive.
Location: We are located on Albuquerque's West Mesa just off Unser Boulevard and 2 miles north of Interstate 40.  We have convenient access to the city via  I-40 (westside traffic crosses the Rio Grande river to reach Albuquerque proper), Coors and Unser, and Montano Boulevard. We are approximately 5 miles from Double-Eagle airport to the west and 12 miles from the Albuquerque Sunport to the southeast.
Attractions: We have a number of attractions for families:
bullet A beautiful seven-acre park on Ouray is maintained by the City and includes a large grass area, playground, paved walkways, tennis courts, basketball court, picnic area, and modular skateboard rink for the kids.  (see photos below)
bullet The Ladera Golf Course borders our eastern boundary, located at Ladera and Ouray.  This city-owned course is a nine-hole executive course with modern pro-shop and restaurant facilities.
bullet Rinconada Canyon in the Petroglyph National Monument is a short distance across Unser to the west.  This large canyon offers expansive vistas of the city and the Sandia and Monzano mountains, as well as numerous well preserved petroglyph rock paintings and several maintained walking and hiking trails.  The Petroglyph ranger station is about two miles farther north.
Schools & Libraries:
bullet Our neighborhood's public school district is Chaparral Elementary School, John Adams Middle School, and West Mesa High School.  There are also private Christian and Catholic schools in close proximity.
bullet Taylor Ranch Public Library is nearby at Unser and Montano Boulevards; Albuquerque's Main Public Library is also a short distance in downtown Albuquerque (at Sixth and Copper).
Shopping: Several options are within a reasonable driving distance:  Cottonwood Mall, a large shopping center on Coors just north of I-40, and numerous smaller stores.
LWNA
Membership:
Membership is open to all residents within the Association's boundaries; annual dues is $15 and membership is required for voting privileges.  The Association's board members meet as needed to conduct business.  There are two general meetings per year which are announced via media signs along Ouray and via a printed newsletter.
